Striker Danijel Ljuboja joins Nice from Grenoble (AP)

Serbia striker Danijel Ljuboja has signed a one-year contract with Nice after moving from second-tier club Grenoble. Nice said it has the option of keeping the former Paris Saint-Germain forward for another year if he is able to play on a regular basis this season. The 31-year-old Ljuboja replaces Loic Remy, who left the club for Marseille for a reported ?15 million ($19 million).

New Japan coach promises 'Zac-attack' as chief samurai (Reuters)

Japan's new coach Alberto Zaccheroni swept into Tokyo on Tuesday, asking to be called "Zac" and promising a lasting legacy from his reign.

FC Copenhagen signs Costa Rican midfielder (AP)

FC Copenhagen says it has signed Costa Rica midfielder Cristian Bolanos ahead of its Champions League games. The Danish club says Bolanos signed a four-year contract. Financial details were not disclosed. The 26-year-old midfielder starts immediately. Copenhagen will play in Group D of the Champions League against Barcelona, Rubin Kazan and Panathinaikos.

US survives test from Brazil, wins 70-68 (AP)

Derrick Rose thought it was going in. So did Leandro Barbosa, who shot it. Instead, Brazil's attempt to tie at the buzzer fell out, and the United States remained unbeaten, though no longer unchallenged. A world championship won't come easily for this young team -- if it comes at all -- so the Americans believe their 70-68 victory over Brazil on Monday will help them in the later rounds.

Sevilla signs Luis Fabiano to 2-year extension (AP)

Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano has agreed to a two-year contract extension that should keep the Brazil striker at the Spanish club through the 2012-2013 season. Luis Fabiano has been a mainstay of Sevilla's attack since arriving from FC Porto in 2005, and helped the Andalucian club to two UEFA Cups and a European Supercup.

Jurado leaves Atletico for Schalke in 4-year deal (AP)

Atletico Madrid midfielder Jose Manual Jurado has joined Bundesliga club Schalke after agreeing to a four-year deal. The Spanish club made the announcement shortly after the 24-year-old Jurado scored the first goal in Atletico's 4-0 league win over Sporting Gijon on Monday night. Spanish media reports have estimated the price of the transfer between ?11 and ?13 million ($13.9-16.5 million).
