Minus Big Ben, Steelers blank Rams (AP)

Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Mike Wallace , lower right, signs autographs for fans en route to the locker room after a 27-0 win over the St. Louis Rams in an NFL football game in Pittsburgh, Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011.

Charlie Batch doesn't know how many more games are left in his 37-year-old legs. Given the way the veteran quarterback played in the Steelers' ridiculously easy 27-0 victory over lifeless St. Louis on Saturday, it may be more than he thinks. The crowd chanting the name of Pittsburgh's native son throughout, Batch played efficiently if not spectacularly while subbing for an injured Ben...

Tebow throws 4 INTs, Bills rout Broncos (AP)

Tim Tebow had two interceptions returned for touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Tim Tebow picked a terrible time to run out of fourth-quarter comebacks. Rather than inspiring the Denver Broncos to another dramatic rally, the quarterback sealed the most dreadful performance of his two-year career by throwing four interceptions -- all in the second half and two returned for touchdowns 18 seconds apart -- in a 40-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday.

The New England Patriots emphasize playing well for 60 minutes every game. On Saturday, 30 was enough -- barely. Rallying from their worst half of the season, the Patriots scored on their next five possessions and clinched a playoff bye with a 27-24 win over the Miami Dolphins on Saturday. "You don't want to, certainly, make a habit of this," said Tom Brady, who scored on two 1-yard...

Rex Ryan was brash and confident all week, insisting his Jets were the kings of New York. Well, the Giants shut him up in a big way -- taking the city bragging rights and setting up an even more important showdown with the Dallas Cowboys next weekend with a 29-14 victory Saturday. "I hate to use that cliche, but this is a huge one," left tackle David Diehl said.

Romo hurts hand with showdown looming (AP)

Tony Romo was in the locker room dealing with a passing hand that wasn't broken, but was swelling. At the same time, the New York Giants were polishing off a victory that rendered the result of this game just about meaningless, and turned their game against the Cowboys in New York next weekend into a battle for the NFC East title.

Vikings RB Peterson has torn ACL (AP)

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson tore a ligament in his left knee Saturday after taking a direct hit in a 33-26 win over the Washington Redskins. An MRI showed the anterior cruciate ligament tear after the team returned to Minnesota. Peterson said he knew "it was something bad" the moment he was hit and that he was in "severe pain" on he lay on the field.

Vikings hope Winfield, Harvin will play (AP)

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield will be a full participant in practice Thursday, hoping to test his injured neck and see if he can play in Sunday's game at Carolina. Winfield wouldn't specify details about his injury after participating on a limited basis Wednesday, but said it's "more than a strain" and that the decision on whether to play is all his.

Niners WR Edwards might not face Browns (AP)

Jim Harbaugh says he is less optimistic about wide receiver Braylon Edwards returning from right knee surgery Sunday against his former Cleveland team. Edwards returned to practice Tuesday for the first time since his injury early in the game Sept. 18 against Dallas, the lone loss for San Francisco (5-1) so far.

Vikings DE Robison fined $20K for kick (AP)

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Brian Robison has been fined $20,000 by the NFL for kicking Packers offensive lineman T.J. Lang in their game Sunday. Robison received word of the fine Wednesday. He apologized to Lang, the league and the Vikings via Twitter on Sunday evening after he kicked Lang in the groin during a field goal try in the second quarter of a 33-27 loss to the Packers.

Rams' Bradford misses more practice time (AP)

Sam Bradford was not at Rams practice while rehabbing from a high left ankle sprain, leaving his availability in doubt for the second straight week. Backup A.J. Feeley got his first start since 2007 in a 34-7 loss at Dallas and expects to start again this week against the Saints. Bradford remains in a walking boot and was in a cast for three days after on-field testing on Friday.

Bengals LB Maualuga likely out Sunday (AP)

Bengals middle linebacker Rey Maualuga wore a protective boot on his left ankle Wednesday, an indication he'll be sidelined for a second straight game. He severely sprained the ankle during practice on Oct. 13 and had to miss a win over Indianapolis. He then had a cast on the ankle heading into the team's bye week.

Chargers place LB English on IR (AP)

The San Diego Chargers have placed outside linebacker Larry English on season-ending injured reserve with a foot injury. It's the latest setback for English, who hasn't lived up to his billing as the team's 2009 first-round draft pick. He also was slowed by a foot injury last year. To take his spot on the active roster, the Chargers signed tackle Stephen Schilling from the practice...

Bills S Wilson: Toronto not a home game (AP)

Buffalo Bills safety George Wilson regards Toronto as a nice and diverse place to visit. Just don't ask him to get excited about playing "home" games there. "It's not a home game," Wilson said before practice Wednesday. Making sure not to knock the city or its residents, Wilson focused his concerns on questioning the loyalty and passion of fans who have attended...

Browns RB Hillis back in starting lineup (AP)

Browns running back Peyton Hillis is back at practice and back in the starting lineup. Hillis, who missed last week's game against Seattle with a strained hamstring, practiced Wednesday for the first time since getting hurt in Cleveland's Oct. 16 loss at Oakland. Since then, Browns president Mike Holmgren has said negotiations with Hillis on a contract extension have been put on hold.

Eagles QB Young sued by strip club boss (AP)

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Vince Young is being sued by a Dallas strip club manager he allegedly punched in the face last year. Creiton Kinchen claims in a lawsuit filed in a Dallas court Tuesday that the 28-year-old Houston native and former University of Texas star hit him "suddenly and without provocation" at the club.

With Casey Hampton already sidelined with a shoulder injury, Steve McLendon gets his first career start at nose tackle. Linebacker Jason Worilds is inactive with a quadriceps injury.

Newton ties rookie QB mark for rush TDs (AP)

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton ran for his seventh touchdown Sunday, tying a record for most rushing scores by a rookie quarterback since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger. Newton blew past two Redskins defenders on a 16-yard keeper on the Panthers' first drive of the second half. That tied him with Vince Young, who set the mark with Tennessee in 2006.

Raiders' Janikowski inactive vs. Chiefs (AP)

Kicker Sebastian Janikowski is inactive for the Oakland Raiders against the Kansas City Chiefs because of a hamstring injury. Janikowski missed two practices this week because of the injury and the Raiders signed Dave Rayner to take his place against Kansas City on Sunday. Among the other inactives for Oakland are receiver Chaz Schilens (groin) and fullback Marcel Reece (ankle).

Feeley set to start at QB for Rams (AP)

A.J. Feeley is to start at quarterback for the St. Louis Rams and Tashard Choice at running back for the Dallas Cowboys because of injuries to starters knocked out by high ankle sprains. The Rams ruled out Sam Bradford on Saturday, making Feeley a starter for the first time since 2007. Choice replaces Felix Jones.

Browns' Massaquoi, Watson out for game (AP)

Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi and tight end Benjamin Watson have sustained head injuries and will not return to Cleveland's game against Seattle.
