Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan is defending himself on Twitter, saying he left training camp to deal with a personal matter and isn't upset with his contract. Martz: Bears could be ready for HOF game (AP)

Redskins' stadium to use solar power (AP)

The Washington Redskins are going solar. The team announced Wednesday that solar power panels will be in place at FedEx Field and in the stadium's parking lot this September. The system will provide a portion of the stadium's electricity on game days and all of its electricity on non-game days.

Metrodome's roof inflates again (AP)

The Metrodome has risen again. Stadium officials and construction workers inflated the Teflon-coated fiberglass ceiling of the iconic stadium Tuesday morning. The work was considered a test, but no problems cropped up so the roof will stay up while the finishing touches are put on a rebuilding project that began in March.

Police: Ward failed field sobriety tests (AP)

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward had glassy, bloodshot eyes and failed field sobriety tests during a traffic stop in Atlanta that landed him a drunken driving charge, according to a police report released Monday. A transit police officer pulled Ward over just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday after he left his lane and at one point hit a curb in his gray Aston Martin, the report says.

LB Vrabel retires, named Ohio St. asst. (AP)

Former All-Pro outside linebacker Mike Vrabel believes his 14 years in the NFL will help him as an assistant coach at his alma mater. Jets WR Edwards crashes car but unhurt (AP)

Authorities say New York Jets receiver and former Michigan standout Braylon Edwards was involved in a minor car crash on the Detroit River island park of Belle Isle. Officer Phillip Cook said Edwards was driving a two-seat sports car with an unidentified passenger about 3:40 a.m. Friday when he lost control, drove off the road and into a pylon.
